Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart

Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart (1756–1791) was an Austrian composer of the Classical period and one of Western music’s most influential figures. Born in Salzburg, he was a child prodigy who toured Europe performing as a pianist and violinist under the guidance of his father, Leopold Mozart. He later worked in Salzburg and, from 1781, lived primarily in Vienna as a freelance musician. Mozart composed in nearly every major genre, including symphonies, concertos, chamber music, sacred works, and opera. His best-known operas include *The Marriage of Figaro*, *Don Giovanni*, and *The Magic Flute*. He died in Vienna at 35.
