Woody Allen

Born Allen Steward Konigsberg, Woody Allen grew up in Brooklyn, New York. He began writing and selling jokes to newspapers in his teens, and was a full-time writer by the time he was 19, writing scripts for TV shows, including The Ed Sullivan Show and The Tonight Show. During the 1960s, Allen also worked as a stand-up comedian, Broadway playwright, short story writer, actor, director, and screenwriter. He began hitting his stride as a screenwriter in the 1970s with films like Manhattan and Annie Hall. In the past 50+ years, Allen has made more than 70 movies and received four Academy Awards. He has been married three times, most recently in 1997 to Soon-Yi Previn, the adopted daughter of ex-wife Mia Farrow.
