Zainab Salbi

Zainab Salbi (also known as Zainab Salbi Nasser) is an Iraqi-American author and humanitarian. Born in Baghdad, Iraq, she later moved to the United States and became a prominent advocate for women affected by war. In 1993, she co-founded Women for Women International, a nonprofit that supports women survivors of conflict through direct aid, skills training, and rights education. Salbi is the author of the memoir *Between Two Worlds: Escape from Tyranny—Growing Up in the Shadow of Saddam* (2005) and *The Other Side of War with Zainab Salbi* (2008). She is also known as a public speaker on women’s rights and post-conflict recovery.
