Zane Grey

Zane Grey (1872–1939) was an American author whose adventure stories helped popularize the Western novel. Born in Zanesville, Ohio, he trained as a dentist and later turned to writing. Grey achieved major success with *Riders of the Purple Sage* (1912), a landmark bestseller that brought wide attention to the landscapes and conflicts of the American frontier. Over his career he produced numerous novels and stories, often featuring rugged settings, action-driven plots, and themes of individualism and survival. His work reached a mass audience and was widely adapted for film and other media. Grey died in Altadena, California.
