Zelda Fitzgerald

Zelda Sayre Fitzgerald (1900–1948) was an American novelist, painter, and socialite associated with the Jazz Age. Born in Montgomery, Alabama, she married writer F. Scott Fitzgerald in 1920 and became a prominent public figure as the couple lived in the United States and France. Fitzgerald wrote the novel *Save Me the Waltz* (1932), drawing on her experiences and interests, including dance. She also produced paintings and other artwork, some of which were exhibited during her lifetime. In later years she spent extended periods in psychiatric care. Zelda Sayre Fitzgerald died in 1948 in Asheville, North Carolina.
