Source: "The Power of Introverts." TED Conference. Feb. 2012. Conference Presentation. Additional Information: This quote by Susan Cain, from her TEDTalk given at TED2012, is about how introverts can have just as much to contribute intellectually as extroverts. Cain, who wrote a book about introversion, explains in this Talk that society tends to value and follow outgoing people, particularly in work and school situations. However, introverts who are more shy and less skilled at communicating verbally in group situations are often just as bright and have just as good ideas -- if not better ideas -- than the more outspoken members of society. Thus, introverted personalities should be celebrated, rather than forced to conform to the ideals of a society that places undue emphasis on extroversion.
