Quote #95516
I was like, Am I gay? Am I straight? And I realized...I'm just slutty. Where's my parade?
Margaret Cho

Interpretation
In this joke, Cho uses a mock “identity quest” (gay vs. straight) to pivot to a deliberately transgressive punchline: she rejects neat sexual labels in favor of a comic admission of promiscuity. The humor comes from subverting the expectation of a solemn coming-out narrative and from treating “slutty” as an identity category that, like other identities, might demand public recognition (“Where’s my parade?”). Beneath the provocation is a critique of how culture polices women’s sexuality and how communities can turn identity into gatekeeping. Cho’s line reclaims sexual agency through exaggeration, self-deprecation, and satire of recognition politics.
