Quote #77502
If a man achieves victory over this body, who in the world can exercise power over him? He who rules himself rules over the whole world.

Interpretation
The saying frames true power as inward rather than political or physical. “Victory over this body” points to mastery of appetite, fear, pain, and ego—the impulses through which others (or circumstances) can coerce a person. If one’s desires and aversions no longer dictate action, external domination loses its leverage. The second sentence extends this: self-rule becomes a kind of universal sovereignty, because disciplined character governs one’s responses in any situation. In Bhave’s Gandhian horizon, such self-mastery underwrites nonviolent resistance and ethical living: freedom is secured not by controlling others, but by controlling oneself.
