Interpretation
The proverb suggests that abundance changes the moral and social calculus: when there is plenty, even those who might steal can be satisfied without depriving the rightful cultivator. It implies a theology of providence in which divine blessing produces surplus, and surplus can diminish envy, need, and the impulse to take from others. At the same time, it carries a sober realism—thieves exist—but offers a hopeful claim that generosity of nature (or God) can make coexistence easier. Read more broadly, it can be taken as a comment on social policy: prosperity and shared plenty reduce crime and resentment more effectively than punishment alone.
