Handwriting is autobiography.

The aphorism treats handwriting as a personal record: the shapes, pressure, rhythm, and spacing of a person’s script are imagined to encode temperament, habits, and lived experience. In that sense, every note or signature becomes a miniature self-portrait—an “autobiography” written unconsciously in strokes rather than in sentences. The line also gestures toward the tradition of graphology, which claims that character can be inferred from handwriting. Even for readers skeptical of graphology as a science, the quote can be read metaphorically: our marks on the page carry traces of identity and history, revealing individuality in a way standardized type cannot.
