Quote #129931
Many things grow in the garden that were never sown there.

Interpretation
The garden stands for any ordered human sphere—one’s mind, household, community, or plans—while what is “sown” represents deliberate choices and intentions. Fuller’s point is that unintended growth is inevitable: weeds, surprises, consequences, and unplanned opportunities appear even in carefully tended spaces. The aphorism can be read as a warning about neglect (if you do not actively cultivate, disorder will) and as a reminder of contingency (not everything that happens is traceable to our designs). It also gestures toward moral psychology: habits and thoughts can take root without conscious consent, so vigilance and cultivation are required.
