We have a visceral reaction to the idea that anyone would make very much money helping other people. Interesting that we don't have a visceral reaction to the notion that people would make a lot of money NOT helping other people.

About This Quote

Source: "The Way We Think About Charity Is Dead Wrong." TED2013. Mar. 2013. Conference Presentation. Additional Information: This quote from fundraiser and activist Dan Pallotta means that we do not incentivize charity as we should; people react negatively to the idea of making a profit from helping people, but, illogically, we don't seem to mind when people make a lot of money without helping anyone. The quote is from Pallotta's 2013 TED Talk about how society needs to rethink the way it views and funds charities.
