In the new economy, information, education, and motivation are everything.

The line frames economic change—often associated with globalization and the rise of digital technology—as shifting advantage away from raw materials and toward human capital. “Information” points to access to data, networks, and technology; “education” to the skills needed to use that information productively; and “motivation” to the personal and civic drive to adapt, innovate, and keep learning. Attributing “everything” to these factors is rhetorical overstatement, but it underscores a policy-minded argument associated with Clinton-era themes: competitiveness depends on broad access to schooling, training, and opportunity, not only on traditional industrial capacity.
